Viva Engage Custom Branding: Setup Guide (2026)

TL;DR: Viva Engage custom branding lets admins set one brand name, two logos and a theme color for every user in the tenant, from a new Brand Center in the Engage admin center. It’s generally available in the worldwide commercial cloud and marked as Launched on Microsoft’s roadmap as of October 12, 2026. It overrides Microsoft 365 themes inside Engage and removes personal theme choices.

What is Viva Engage custom branding?

Viva Engage custom branding is an admin feature that applies a single visual identity across the Engage web and mobile apps. Admins configure it in the Brand Center inside the Viva Engage admin center (MC1447681).

It’s not the same as SharePoint Brand Center. SharePoint Brand Center manages fonts, colors, and themes for SharePoint sites and Viva Connections; we cover it in our SharePoint Brand Center guide. Engage’s Brand Center is separate and much simpler.

What can you brand in Viva Engage?

Element Where it appears Size
Brand name Engage web app header Text
Small logo Web header and mobile app navigation bar 32 × 32 px, JPG or PNG
Large logo Right-side panel of the Engage home page (web) 114 × 114 px, JPG or PNG
Theme color Supported buttons, icons and other interface elements One color

When did it launch?

Microsoft rolled out custom branding worldwide from mid-August to mid-September 2026. The roadmap item (Microsoft 365 Roadmap 568364) was updated to Launched on October 12, 2026, so every commercial tenant should now see the Brand Center.

How do you set up custom branding in Viva Engage?

You need one of these roles: Engage admin (called Yammer Administrator in Microsoft Entra ID), Global admin, Network admin, or Verified admin. Then:

  1. Open the Viva Engage admin center and select Brand Center.
  2. Enter your brand or organization name.
  3. Upload a small logo (32 × 32 px, JPG or PNG). Test it at that size: detailed logos turn to mush. A simple mark or monogram works best.
  4. Upload a large logo (114 × 114 px, JPG or PNG) for the home page side panel.
  5. Pick one theme color. Check contrast against white text and icons for accessibility.
  6. Save and preview. Admins can preview changes personally in the web and mobile apps before anyone else sees them.
  7. Publish tenant-wide.

What should you know before you publish?

  • It overrides Microsoft 365 themes inside Engage. Once published, custom branding takes precedence over your organizational theme in Engage.
  • Personal themes go away. Individual users lose their own theme choice once the feature is available in your tenant, whether or not you apply branding (MC1447681).
  • Mobile lags behind. Changes can take up to 60 minutes to show in the Engage mobile app.
  • Teams isn’t fully there yet. The Engage app in Teams doesn’t fully support the new branding (Topedia).
  • It’s optional. Branding isn’t applied until an admin publishes it, and your Microsoft 365 theme stays in place until then. The one change you can’t opt out of is the loss of personal themes, so let users know.

How do you keep Engage, SharePoint, and your intranet on-brand together?

Employees move between Engage, Teams and your SharePoint intranet many times a day. If each looks different, your brand feels fragmented. Here’s a checklist that keeps them aligned:

  • Use the same primary color in Engage Brand Center, SharePoint Brand Center, and your intranet theme.
  • Use the same small logo or monogram across Engage, SharePoint global navigation, and the app bar.
  • Write a one-page brand sheet with hex codes and logo files so every admin uses the same assets.
  • Test on mobile for each surface, since logos and colors render differently there.
  • Check accessibility contrast for your theme color in every app.
  • Name an owner for brand settings in each admin center, so changes stay in sync.

Bring your Engage home feed onto your branded intranet with ShortPoint

Engage Brand Center makes your community look like your company. But a well-branded community only helps if people see it. When updates are scattered across Teams, Outlook, Engage and the intranet, the ones that matter get buried. Bringing the Engage home feed onto your intranet gives them one place to catch up on news, announcements and conversations, without jumping between apps.

With the ShortPoint Viva Engage design element, you can add the Engage home feed to your SharePoint pages, so each employee sees their own conversations right on the intranet.

One thing to know: Engage branding stays in Engage. The brand name, logos, and theme color you set in Brand Center don’t carry over into the embedded feed, which keeps the default Engage look.

Not to worry, because ShortPoint takes care of your branding across the rest of your intranet, from navigation to design elements. With everything around the feed in your colors, logo, and fonts, the whole page still looks and feels like your brand.
