ShortPoint Completes Soc 2 Type 2 Examination

Maintaining data privacy and security is one of the highest priorities in organizations around the globe including ShortPoint. We strongly believe that security is a mindset, not just a set of security controls and frameworks for compliance. We place security as one of the company’s values. This is apparent in how we built our products, designed our systems, and implemented our processes. In fact, we have designed our product in such a way that it does not access or store any customer data except for licensing and product usage information. The latter of which, customers can opt-out of at any time.

However, we did not stop at that. In 2021, we launched a cohesive effort to fully comply with international standards on data security for software as a service (Saas). We first set our eyes on a SOC 2 Type 2 certification. Developed by the Assurance Services Executive Committee (ASEC) of the AICPA, the Trust Services Criteria is the set of control criteria to be used when evaluating the suitability of the design and operating effectiveness of controls relevant to the security, availability, or processing integrity of information and systems, or the confidentiality or privacy of the information processed by the systems at an entity, a division, or an operating unit of an entity. We partnered up with Drata for continuous monitoring of security controls and compliance across the organization to achieve this goal. In addition, we worked with an independent auditor, BARR Advisory, to maintain a SOC 2 Type 2 report, which objectively certifies our controls to ensure the continuous security of our customers' data.

This month, we are happy to announce that we have completed the SOC 2 Type 2 Examination and passed it with flying colors. But this is only the beginning. Watch out for more news about activities on security at ShortPoint.

Design Element of the Month: Text

This August, we bring you another edition of Design Element of the Month. Here, we highlight one Design Element that ShortPoint users utilize the most and give you essential tips on when and how to use it on your intranets. In this Snapshot, we focus on the Text Design Element.

Text is a critical component of an intranet page’s content. You may have a block of text containing important information for your users, titles that summarize your content and catch user attention, headers that direct users to a group of data, and more that you want to add to your page. What is challenging is how to format text, highlight parts of the text, and incorporate it into your page such that it is cohesive with your overall page design and serves its purpose. ShortPoint’s Text Design Element provides you the functionality and flexibility to be creative in inserting text into your site pages.

No Fuss Text Editing

Any Text Design Element inserted on a page is easy to access in the Live Mode experience. Just double-click on it and you will be brought to the inline edit mode. You will be able to add, edit, and delete text in this mode. You will also have access to the text editor and customize text format directly on the page. Find out more about this functionality in our support article on Text Editing Experience in ShortPoint Page Builder Live Mode and Grid Mode.

Catch Attention with Inline Design Elements

A hidden gem is also found as an extension of the text editor. At the farthest right, you will find an unassuming ShortPoint icon. Press that and you will find ten Inline Design Elements that you can quickly apply to your text. You can add links, make tooltips, and insert buttons within your text immediately without having to go through Page Builder. Our support article Introducing Inline Design Elements Feature for ShortPoint Page Builder Live Mode and ShortPoint Page Builder Grid will make you more familiar with the magic you can make with this feature. Given the popularity of inserting emoticons to lighten up long content these days, you may be interested to know that you can add them using this feature too.

Display Dynamic Text

The Text Design Element also benefits from having the ShortPoint Connect feature incorporated with it. This allows you to link the element to a wide variety of content you need within your SharePoint tenancy, other Microsoft 365 applications, and external sources. You can then display this content on your intranet page. The update to pick up new information runs automatically on the back end which means you only have to establish the connection once. Learn more about this feature from our Knowledge Base.

Text Design Element Beyond ShortPoint

Lastly, we will leave you with one important feature that you may want to know about the Text Design Element. You may be aware that when your ShortPoint on-demand license expires, you will be able to keep your page designs, connected content will keep running, and your users will still be able to view the pages you built. However, editing existing designs will be disabled and other capabilities related to ShortPoint will no longer be accessible. This is not true for the Text Design Element. You can still edit its contents with the minimum customization options available at your disposal. We have a step-by-step guide on how this can be done.

The Faces of ShortPoint

Meet Raz, Our Customer Support Expert

Every challenge is easier to manage when you know you have a competent and ready expert to support you along the way. ShortPoint’s Customer Support Unit boasts high customer satisfaction ratings and consistently excellent customer service. How do they do it? This August, let’s find out how Raziel Ramirez, one of our Customer Support Experts, brings her best to help our customers.

Raz never knows the kinds of inquiries and issues she will be handling each day. However, it is a challenge that she welcomes because of the satisfaction she gets when she can resolve a customer’s concern. She finds opportunities to go the extra mile in providing solutions and leaving a positive customer experience in the process. She genuinely cares about helping other people and this is the key to her success.

Since Raz started with ShortPoint in April 2021, she learned a lot about work-life balance. She can enjoy the best of both worlds as she gets to spend quality time with her family and be super productive at work at the same time. She is thankful that she no longer has to go through the hustle of Manila traffic to get to work which drains energy and wastes time she could spend on more meaningful activities.

Exploring beaches in different parts of the Philippines with her husband, Ramon, and son, Rafa, is her favorite activity. It gives her infinite happiness to see her family enjoy little things. With a new baby on the way, she expects that their next adventures will be challenging yet exciting at the same time. Her pregnancy in itself brought its challenges as she is unable to indulge in the usual sweet cakes, cookies, and other pastries she used to love to bake since she was young. But nothing stops a sweet tooth and chocolate lover like Raz. She started to learn to bake diabetic-friendly desserts and it is the best decision she ever made. August is Raz’s birth month and we can only wonder what delectable birthday cake she will be whipping up for herself.
